Abstract

Joan W. Scott and Rafael Sagredo engage in a dialogue centered around Public History and the role of the historian. Inspired by the 50th anniversary of Chile’s coup d’état, they discuss how to approach the past in societies with recent traumatic pasts. Joan Scott refers to her reflections upon “the judgement of history” and the concept of alternative history.
