Marcadores discursivos en el habla urbana y rural de la Provincia de Ñuble

Abstract

This paper deals with the description of discourse markers as they appear as used by six Spanish speakers of the Ñuble province in Chile.Two of them are rural speakers with a low educational level. Other two are urban speakers with a low educational level and, finally, the last two are urban speakers with a high educational level. We considered it important to quantify the presence of these linguistic markers, to describe their function in conversation and also to correlate the results with the educational level variable (low - high) and the geographic procedence of the speakers (rural -urban
