Abstract

The aspect that concerns us in the following study is the conception of the hearer as an active participant in oral conversations. In order to achieve this, we analyse the Cooperative Principle and its maxims, together with the alternancy phenomenon as for interruption and overlapping. We propose a pragmatic principle that is focused on the hearer, called the Alternancy Principle.
