This article investigates the poet and composer from Maule, María Ruiz Martínez (1901-1988). Its objective is to highlight and value her work as the editor of the magazine "Voces" (1935) within the context of studies on women editors in the Chilean press and their editorial practices in the 1930s, as well as her role within the feminist movement of the time. To achieve this, the text addresses, in the fi rst part, relevant aspects of her life, highlighting her connections with contemporary literary and artistic circles. In the second part, it analyzes some sections of the magazine to verify María Ruiz Martínez’s participation and assess her contribution in the context of women in the press during this period. The article concludes, on the one hand, that María Ruiz played an important role as an editor within the magazine and, on the other hand, that the magazine reflects a new vision of women, particularly single women, an ideal that María Ruiz herself embodied.
