Abstract

The exercise of freedom of worship includes a wide variety of religious manifestations, among which we can point out those that generate sounds that are audible by people who do not participate in the ceremonies that produce them. The ringing of bells or the music of evangelical celebrations would be the most well-known and relevant sounds of religious origin, but not the only ones recorded in Latin America. This paper estudies the inclusion of these sounds within the framework of the right to religious freedom, as well as the conflict that may have occurred around them in the Latin American region, similarly to what has happened in Europe, examining whether the decisions of the civil authorities in this regard have valued their religious significance when they have been denounced as annoying.
