Abstract

The first step in this study about the phenomenon of hunger in the work of Josué of Castro was defining the concept hunger through the geographical method. To turn public the existence of hunger through the accusation of its causes and consequences was one of his great objectives of his work. A first publication dates from 1 947 - the Geography of the Hunger - and a second one published in 1951 - Geopolitics of the Hunger -. In both books, Josué begins his presentation of the phenomenon of hunger through a geographical treatment of the subject. Then in "Geopolitics of Hunger" Castro treats hunger at the continental level. The relevance of these works is revealed at all moments, since the phenomenon of hunger continues, revealing that it continues to exist on the surface of the world.
